Inverness, the capital of the Highlands and gateway to the north was given its City status in the year 2000 along with Wolverhampton, Brighton and Hove. Inverness perfect for touring North Scotland, with an estimated population of over 41,000 is a Town at the mouth of River Ness at the entrance to Beauly Firth. Inverness connects onto Loch Ness at the North end of the loch on the A82. Loch Ness Tourist route is on the A82 but our preferred route is on the B852 which is on the east side of Loch Ness. This is a much smaller route but perfect views and it is usually quieter than the A82. There are many small parking places were you can stop and try to spot Nessy.
